Cruising Grand Cane in Photoshop

Creative + 3-Color separations on Grey

Do you remember a first ah-hah moment? Does it stick with you like understanding seperations for t-shirt designs does with me? Cruising in Grande Cane. An ah-hah moment every time. Especially when trying to solve for efficiency. In seperations. And getting to know another printer.

This is the approved digital art. You can see besides white and black, the only real color is teal. Everything else is a halftone addressed in channels. My advice for anyone looking for t-shirt design and seperations, provide ample time for your printer to work with the designer.

This 3-color design seperations on grey works, but…

…it looks a little dark with the black halftones.

Im gonna get a little Sherlock Holmes and venture to say that the printer was stronger with their right hand. While the darkest halftones can be seen in the black channel prints fine on the left, on the right its more present. Knowing something like that can help you compensatre for less a than even squeegee.

In the end the customer was happy, but I would have like to seen a sample print and lightened up some halftones.

T-shirt design separations

These are the separations for the design if your are interested in how the “colors” are transferred to a screen. Im currently seeing/experiencing a bug within photoshop on my cintiqe running windows 8. Notice that the information is showing at pipe characters…hence my PDF comments on the colors. Less professional than I’m used to.
